Three Paid Summer Internships at Museum of Northern Arizona

Deadline: March 31, 2017

Please let interested students know about collection internship opportunities (anthropology, archives, botany, and paleontology) at the Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA).

Candidates will gain professional museum experience while working in a region surrounded by remarkable landscapes and Native American cultures. Accredited by AAM, the Museum of Northern Arizona is located in Flagstaff, AZ – a mountain town with lovely summer weather, numerous hiking trails, and close proximity to the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest National Parks, Sunset Crater, Wupatki and Walnut Canyon National Monuments, the Painted Desert and Red Rock Country. Flagstaff is home to Lowell Observatory (where Pluto was first discovered) and a gorgeous Arboretum. Summer Internships coincide with MNA’s internationally recognized Native American Heritage Festivals which introduce visitors to the culture and artistry of the Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni peoples.

The three, multidisciplinary, collection internships are posted on MNA’s website at https://musnaz.org/about/careers/.  Housing and a $12 per hour salary (34 hours per week) are provided for a minimum of 10 weeks between May 1st and September 30th 2017.

To apply, email a cover letter, resume and 3 letters of recommendation as either MS Word or PDF to JThomas@musnaz.org. Application review begins March 31, 2017, so get your application in early.

The Museum of Northern Arizona is an Equal Opportunity Employer – Open until filled.

Learn how other faculty, researchers, and students approach resilience from their diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Meet potential collaborators across campus.

We were delighted to host the Visions Program from Scottsdale today with a series of tours and workshops with our faculty — and to show students what it’s like to be an Art Wildcat!

The program brings together 42 art students from diverse Maricopa County high schools for a yearlong series of activities designed "to cultivate artistic skills, collaboration and civic engagement," Visions says.

Opening speeches from Colin Blakely, (School of Art Director), Karen Zimmerman (Associate Director), lydia see (Gallery Director) and Ashley Rubin (Art Advising) welcomed students and gave them a glimpse into the workings of the school. Visiting Profs. Danielle Jones (3DXM) and Erin DiGiovanni (2D) and Assistant Prof. Nicole Antebi (IDA/Animation) held workshops, while Denise Angulo (Administrative Associate) and student workers Kayla Bradshaw and Alex Allen led the tours. Thanks everyone for an amazing day! (Photos by Ava Sheppard)
