This exhibition features the work of 4th year BFA student Fatema Abizar. Fatema attempts to capture the space between artist and mother, working across mediums of gouache, acrylic, printmaking and natural dyes.
A reception will be held Thursday, March 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Lionel Rombach Gallery.
From the artist:
“Fatema works with natural dyes with an admiration for the labor and craft of making that also mirrors the physical labor of motherhood. The process of painting and creating natural dyes is time consuming, meticulous, and repetitive. Those same qualities can be reflected in the slowness, patience, and intentionality that appears in her life as a mother to a young child. In this way, her art-making process feathers into her identity as a caregiver and also becomes a ground for meditative reflection.”
