Lisa Angeles Watanabe received an MFA in Visual Communication at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before returning to the University of Arizona School of Art, where she earned her BFA in Visual Communication. She teaches courses in typography, letterpress, design, and process & play. Her passion lies in the intersection of visual communication and tactile processes, believing that design is a communication tool and an opportunity for exploration and experimentation. She emphasizes the role of process in creative practice, advocating for hands-on experimentation and play as fundamental elements of design. Her work also explores new ways to merge traditional techniques with contemporary design thinking, alongside a deep interest in the complexities of language systems.
