
1.48.116 is a physical embodiment of the divide surrounding LGBTQ matters, specifically with relational and religious concerns. The stimulus behind these works are of Myers personal experience and thought processes. Working in a reduction of material form, his two-dimensional work parallels a recent reduction of his faith, simplifying to understand the foundations of material and belief. Embroidered with the tension and the unexpectable outcome of coming out and religious apologetics, Myers gages a critical look into balancing the true nature of one’s dogma with an established belief system. Accompanying the two-dimensional work is an installation of found objects and elements removed from his parent’s home obstructs the gallery space.
Nate Myers was born in Phoenix, AZ, currently residing in Tucson, AZ. He holds a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Two-Dimensional Art from the University of Arizona, graduating in 2015.
