School of Art grad student Deborah Ruiz will be a featured speaker in this free in-person and virtual event April 8 at 1 p.m. at ASU Polytechnic campus — a conversation about how utilizing design, typography and letterpress printing can be a help in preserving memory as we age.
The event, hosted by AIGA Arizona, will examine “the nature of learning design processes and how haptic experiences can be beneficial for young and not as young folks for learning new skills to enhance memory,” according to the group’s website. “We will discuss a project that is being developed that includes learning type and making prints will be put into practice in a senior living environment to build memory skills, use fingers and hands for dexterity, and social interactions.”
AIGA, or the American Institute of Graphic Arts, is the professional organization for design.
