The graduate students of the University of Arizona School of Art are pleased to present Graduate Open Studios: We Want Trouble on Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. as part of the Southern Arizona’s Regional Fall Open Studio Tour.
See inside the workings of the Graduate Visual Research Laboratory. On display a vast array of artworks that include photography, painting, sculpture, printmaking, installation and video from individuals across the world — with many of the artists in attendance and available to discuss their artistic practice.
The word “trouble” derives from an Old French word meaning “to stir up, make cloudy, or to disturb.” Artists are often bound in such murky activity. Seeking and grasping for meaning, artists rarely provide answers, and more often are implicit in fermenting more questions. Graduate students are no exception, and in a demanding visual art program are continually agitated.
We want trouble, and in the process, our task is to become capable of response.
