Tribute to Joe Gross and reception in his honor, Nov 15, 4 – 6 pm
Legacy: 40th Anniversary of the Joseph Gross Gallery is a celebration of the gallery’s continual successes and innovative exhibitions, highlighting some of our noteworthy exhibitors from the last few decades. The mission has evolved over its forty years, but has remained true to the core objective: to bring contemporary art to the greater Tucson community. Since the gallery’s inception, there have been efforts to show work that integrates vastly different disciplines within the arts and to pursue interdisciplinary exhibitions that reveal a diverse range of media and thematic approaches from nationally recognized art leaders in the community and beyond.
Legacy will serve as a celebratory tribute to our dear friend, a visionary philanthropist who invested not only his financial support in the School, but also his time and vibrant spirit to our students, faculty, advisory board and everyone who had the pleasure to know him – Joe Gross. Joe enthusiastically attended School of Art events for more than forty years. His dedication to the galleries, the School of Art, the University of Arizona, and the Tucson arts community was profound and genuine. Although he will be missed, we remain forever grateful and hope you will join us as we celebrate his legacy and the 40th Anniversary of the Joseph Gross Gallery.
The exhibition includes works by the following artists: Claudio Dicochea, Bailey Doogan, Gregory Euclide, Josh Keyes, David Choong Lee, Mark Mulroney, Erin M. Riley, William T. Wiley, and Andrew Young.
This exhibition is supported by the Dr. Joseph F. Gross Endowment, Lionel Rombach Endowment, and the University of Arizona School of Art.
