Tucson reception: Thursday, Nov. 12, 4-6 p.m.
“PLAZA” is a traveling exhibition that unites MFA photography artists from the University of Arizona and Arizona State University.
Curated by U of A School of Art graduate student Marcus Xavier Chormicle (Photography, Video & Imaging) and ASU photo graduate student Oscar Montes, the exhibition invites artists to reflect on their personal relationship to place — both far and near.
“PLAZA” is a meeting ground. Artists were invited to reflect on their relationship to place in regards to belonging, meeting, ancestral roots, and isolation; artists were encouraged to reflect on the idea of what it can mean to feel at home in a place or between places.
The Tucson reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the U of A’s Lionel Rombach Gallery, 1031 N. Olive Road. In addition, the exhibition also will be shown in October at ASU’s Step Gallery, 951 S. Mill Ave., in Tempe. A reception is Oct. 16 at the ASU Step Gallery, 6-8 p.m.
