Donald G. Traut
Don Traut is professor of music theory and director of the UArizona Folk-Rock Ensemble. His publications on the music of Stravinsky include work on Schenker and Stravinsky, race and Stravinsky reception, and a 2016 book devoted to the Piano Concerto. Further publications are devoted to Billy Joel, accent and harmonic patterns in rock music, and numerous book reviews and encyclopedia entires. In 2021 he founded the UArizona Folk-Rock Ensemble, giving students the opportunity to learn songs by Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, and many others. He holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse (BA), Louisiana State University (MM), and the Eastman School of Music (PhD).
