Nikki Berger Martinez is a performer, designer, director, producer, teacher and visual artist living in Tucson, AZ. Nikki works in mediums including performance art, photography, film and sculpture. She holds her MFA in Acting from the Yale School of Drama and her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. She has studied with Anne Bogart and the SITI Co, the Trinity LaMaMa Performing Arts Program, The Fordham/Orvieto Theater Institute in Italy and at the Workcenter of Jerzy Growtowski and Thomas Richards. She danced classical ballet for fifteen years before studying movement with Victoria Santa Cruz, Maureen Fleming, Dawn Saito and Wesley Fata. She is a practioner and teacher of Body Intelliegence - a practice of Allen Wayne Work adapted by Brenna Palughi. She teaches a somatically informed approach to acting that incorporates principles of consent based and trauma informed classrooms as outlined by TIE (Theatre Inticacy Education), the work of Peter Levine, and principles of Emergent Strategy as defined by Adrienne Marie Brown.
